Redesigning a home all by yourself can be difficult but there are a lot of resources like HGTV kitchen remodeling shows, kitchen pictures and magazines, you tube videos that can help you with some of the basic tips. These are a good source of information on your home makeover but they still do not give you specific solutions for your design method like architects or interior designers do. To meet this end here are a few tips that most designers use to give that extra touch.

In a home makeover project it is easy to get guidance from a local home improvement store on say, how to lay the tiles or getting the right paint, but what most home owners don’t concentrate while doing this is to find out if the pattern of tiles or the color they have chosen suits the type of house they live in. Designers will look into the color schemes based on whether your house is Victorian or Colonial and so on giving it a designer look. They also take importance in selecting the door hardware. Antique or modern looking door handle sets, switch plates, door knobs.

Look for contemporary door hardware like the Zeus handle sets from Emtek, single cylinder handle sets from Schlage or keyed entry handle sets from Kwikset. Installing fancy door bells or even changing into a nice font for the door numbers can improve the look of the house
